करीब ढाई दशक से बंद पड़े अटल खेल संकुल के स्विमिंग पूल में एक बार फिर गतिविधियां शुरू होने जा रही हैं। लगभग 24 वर्ष पहले ड्रेनेज लाइन का पानी पूल में आने लगा था, जिसके चलते इसे बंद करना पड़ा था। करीब एक साल पहले पूल के जीर्णोद्धार का कार्य शुरू किया गया, जिसे अब मई महीने तक पूरा करने का दावा किया जा रहा है।

अधिकारियों के अनुसार, अटल खेल संकुल का स्विमिंग पूल मई माह तक फिर से शुरू कर दिया जाएगा। इसके शुरू होने से शहर के खिलाड़ियों और युवाओं को अभ्यास के लिए एक बेहतर सुविधा उपलब्ध हो सकेगी।

<strong>ऊपर से ढंका जाएगा स्विमिंग पूल</strong>

पिछले 24 वर्षों में अटल खेल संकुल के आसपास का इलाका पूरी तरह बदल चुका है। पहले जहां खुला वातावरण था, वहां अब बहुमंजिला इमारतें खड़ी हैं। इसी को देखते हुए स्विमिंग पूल को ऊपर से ढंकने का निर्णय लिया गया है। पूल को करीब 22 फीट ऊंचाई पर सफेद टेंसाइल मटेरियल से कवर किया जाएगा, जो कपड़े जैसा दिखेगा लेकिन मजबूत होगा और धूप, धूल व धुएं से बचाव करेगा।

स्विमिंग पूल के इस प्रोजेक्ट पर नगर निगम द्वारा लगभग एक करोड़ रुपए खर्च किए जा रहे हैं। मंगलवार को महापौर पुष्यमित्र भार्गव ने क्षेत्र क्रमांक-2 स्थित अटल खेल संकुल पहुंचकर चल रहे कार्यों का निरीक्षण किया और अधिकारियों को काम में तेजी लाने के निर्देश दिए।

निरीक्षण के दौरान एमआईसी सदस्य राजेंद्र राठौर ने बताया कि यह स्विमिंग पूल किसी राष्ट्रीय या अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की प्रतियोगिताओं के लिए नहीं बनाया जा रहा है। इसका मुख्य उद्देश्य शहर के युवाओं और खिलाड़ियों को तैराकी सीखने और नियमित अभ्यास की सुविधा देना है।

नेहरू पार्क स्थित स्विमिंग पूल में भी निर्माण कार्य तेजी से चल रहा है। वहां पुरानी टाइल्स हटाकर नए सिरे से काम कराया जा रहा है। एक महीने में निर्माण कार्य पूरा होने के बाद सवा महीने के भीतर यह पूल भी शुरू करने की तैयारी है। पहले इसे जनवरी में शुरू करने की योजना थी, लेकिन पार्क में जमा कबाड़ हटाने के कारण काम में देरी हुई और अब इसे मार्च तक शुरू करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।
