बांधवगढ़ टाइगर रिजर्व में तीन दिवसीय गिद्ध गणना अभियान का पहला दिन शुक्रवार को सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हुआ। रिज़र्व प्रबंधन ने जानकारी दी कि इस व्यापक सर्वे में वन अमले ने पूरे उत्साह के साथ भाग लिया और निर्धारित क्षेत्रों में सघन निगरानी की गई।

इस विशेष अभियान के तहत टाइगर रिज़र्व के चार उप वनमंडलों के नौ परिक्षेत्रों की कुल 139 बीटों में एक साथ गणना कार्य किया गया। जंगल के दुर्गम इलाकों से लेकर खुले घास के मैदानों और पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों तक वनकर्मियों की टीमें सुबह से ही सक्रिय रहीं। लगभग 400 से अधिक फील्ड स्टाफ ने जमीनी स्तर पर मोर्चा संभाला, जबकि करीब 60 अधिकारी और वरिष्ठ वनकर्मी विभिन्न स्थलों पर मौजूद रहकर निगरानी और मार्गदर्शन करते रहे।

इस बार गणना प्रक्रिया को तकनीक से जोड़ा गया है। गिद्धों की संख्या दर्ज करने के लिए मोबाइल ऐप Epicollect5 का उपयोग किया जा रहा है। इस डिजिटल माध्यम से फील्ड में दिखने वाले प्रत्येक गिद्ध की जानकारी तुरंत दर्ज हो रही है, जिससे आंकड़ों की सटीकता और पारदर्शिता बढ़ी है। पहले जहां मैन्युअल नोटिंग पर निर्भरता रहती थी, वहीं अब लोकेशन आधारित डेटा सीधे सिस्टम में अपलोड हो रहा है।

पहले दिन की गणना के दौरान क्षेत्र में कई प्रजातियों के गिद्ध देखे गए। इनमें राज गिद्ध, देसी गिद्ध, इजिप्शियन गिद्ध और व्हाइट ग्रिफोन गिद्ध प्रमुख रहे। अलग-अलग बीटों में इनकी मौजूदगी दर्ज की गई, जिससे यह संकेत मिलता है कि बांधवगढ़ का पारिस्थितिक तंत्र अभी भी इन महत्वपूर्ण पक्षियों के लिए अनुकूल बना हुआ है।

गिद्धों को जंगल का सफाईकर्मी कहा जाता है। वे मृत पशुओं को खाकर पर्यावरण को संक्रमण से बचाते हैं और प्राकृतिक संतुलन बनाए रखने में अहम भूमिका निभाते हैं। पिछले वर्षों में देशभर में गिद्धों की संख्या में आई गिरावट को देखते हुए इस तरह की नियमित गणना और संरक्षण प्रयास बेहद जरूरी माने जाते हैं। रिजर्व प्रबंधन के अनुसार यह गणना अभियान अगले दो दिनों तक जारी रहेगा। सभी बीटों से प्राप्त आंकड़ों का विश्लेषण कर अंतिम रिपोर्ट तैयार की जाएगी, जिससे भविष्य की संरक्षण रणनीति तय करने में मदद मिलेगी। जंगल में गूंजती इन विशाल पक्षियों की मौजूदगी न केवल जैव विविधता का संकेत है, बल्कि यह संरक्षण प्रयासों की सफलता की भी कहानी कहती है।
