मध्यप्रदेश की समृद्ध जनजातीय कला परंपरा ने एक बार फिर देश में अपनी विशिष्ट पहचान दर्ज कराई है। पारंपरिक भरेवा धातु शिल्प कला को राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर सम्मान मिलने के साथ ही बैतूल जिले के प्रसिद्ध भरेवा शिल्पकार बलदेव वाघमारे को राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने राष्ट्रीय हस्तशिल्प पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया। हाल ही में भरेवा शिल्प को जीआई टैग भी प्राप्त हुआ है, जिससे इसकी सांस्कृतिक और आर्थिक महत्ता और बढ़ गई है। सम्मान समारोह में केन्द्रीय वस्त्र मंत्री गिरिराज सिंह भी उपस्थित थे।

स्थानीय बोली में “भरेवा” का अर्थ है-भरने वाला। यह कला गोंड जनजाति की उप-जाति द्वारा पीढ़ियों से संजोई गई धातु ढलाई की विशिष्ट तकनीक पर आधारित है। यह केवल शिल्प नहीं, बल्कि गोंड समुदाय के रीति-रिवाजों, देवी-देवताओं की आस्थाओं और सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं को मूर्त रूप देने वाली विरासत है। भरेवा कारीगर शिव-पार्वती, ठाकुर देव तथा अन्य ग्रामीण देवताओं की प्रतीकात्मक मूर्तियां बनाते हैं। साथ ही वे अंगूठियां, कटार, कलाईबंद, बाजूबंद जैसे पारंपरिक आभूषण भी तैयार करते हैं, जिनका विशेष महत्व विवाह और धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों में होता है।

भरेवा समुदाय मुख्यतः बैतूल जिले के कुछ हिस्सों में केंद्रित है, जो भोपाल से लगभग 180 किमी दूर है। इसी क्षेत्र के टिगरिया गांव में जन्मे और पले-बढ़े बलदेव वाघमारे ने न केवल इस परंपरा को जीवंत बनाए रखा, बल्कि घटती कारीगर संख्या में भी नई जान फूंक दी। उनकी मेहनत से टिगरिया आज शिल्प ग्राम के रूप में उभर रहा है, जहां कई भरेवा परिवार इस अनोखी कला को आगे बढ़ा रहे हैं। बलदेव ने यह कला अपने पिता से सीखी और अपनी प्रतिभा, अनुशासन और पारंपरिक समझ के बल पर राष्ट्रीय स्तर के मास्टर कारीगर के रूप में पहचान बनाई है। उनका परिवार आज भी इसी विरासत के सहारे जीवनयापन करता है।
